Human Resources/Risk Manager

This position performs all major municipal Human Resource and Risk Management functions, providing highly accountable, confidential, administrative support to the City Manager, to include but not limited to employee personnel and medical records; risk management; insurance claims; policies; work related training; employee development; assists staff with labor relations problems and advises top management in the area of labor relations. Administers the City’s Risk Management Program and identify and implement policies and procedures designed to reduce the exposure of City operations to risk.

 Five years of progressively more responsible professional management or administrative experience.  Also, with at least five years of recent payroll and human resources experience. Naviline experience desired.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in human resources or business administration or equivalent combination of experience.

                                               CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK

City of Avon Park is accepting applications for Entry Level Customer Service Clerk position in the Utility Billing Department.  This is a responsible clerical position in establishing and terminating utility service accounts, processing utility payments, balance cash drawers, billing, and customer service.  Must be knowledgeable in office practice procedures and be able to operate computer systems and associated software.  Applicant must possess the ability to work with the general public in a professional and effective manner, exhibit excellent communication skills, and work under stressful situations and time constraints. Full Time starting pay $11.07/hr with excellent benefit package.                                                   

Applicant must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with one (1) years related experience and/or related administrative clerical training in customer service/public relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The City of Avon Park is accepting applications for full-time (24/48) entry level State Certified Firefighter(s).  Minimum Qualifications:  Certification as a firefighter II by the State of Florida Bureau of Standards and Training, State of Florida or National Registry EMT Certification, a valid State of Florida motor vehicle driver’s license and an apparatus driving certificate for CEVO or equivalent.

The candidate must possess the minimum qualifications. Candidates will be required to successfully complete a Firefighters Ability Test.  New Hires will have a required residency of a ten (10) mile radius of the Avon Park Fire Station, 98 S. Delaney Avenue, Avon Park, FL within 24 months of hire. Avon Park starting probationary salary is $29,777.28 with an excellent benefit package.  Proof of Florida Firefighter Certificate must accompany application.

 City of Avon Park, population 11,000 is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of full-time Director of Infrastructure.  This position directs and oversees Public Works, which includes planning, organizing, and controlling all activities, operations and maintenance of the water treatment, transmission and distribution systems; wastewater treatment and collection systems; solid waste collection, streets, roads, sewers, and storm drainage facilities.

The salary will be $80,000 per year with an excellent benefit package.  Requires a Bachelor Degree in a technical field with at least five years of experience in Public Works, Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.

City of Avon Park is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Public Safety Officer.  The ideal candidate should have the following certification.  Certified Florida Law Enforcement Officer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.  Supervisory experience preferred.   Valid FL Driver’s License a must.  Candidate must be able to work staggered shifts, weekends, and holidays. Grade 201 $15.00 - $22.00 per hour, with an excellent benefit package.
