Meter Replacement
After years of experiencing significant water losses the City decided to start a water meter replacement program. Although old meter had been replaced in the past the replacement rate was not rapid enough. Public Works, along with the help of the Utility Billing department, conducted an inventory to determine locations and sizes of meters. It was found during this inventory that meters were in the system that dated back to 1946. The average life expectancy of a water meter is approximately 15 years. After looking at several options for meters it was decided to go with Automated meter Reading System. Now instead of a reading cycle taking up to thirty days the entire town can be completed in three days. |
